For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7

why am i doin what i am doin?

doin the right thing, for the wrong reasons?
Matthew 16:23
minding the things of God or minding the things of men?

misguided motivations (drive)

praise
  • popularity of men, ego-stroked, approval of men. applauds.
pride
  • desire to seek personal recognition and victory, remind pple what we have accomplished and done, self-importance.
  • we cannot really contribution (addin to it) to God's plan but we participate (slice of action) in the works of the Lord. we reap the benefits in the process.
  • no one is indispensible, everyone is adaptable. life goes on.
  • take God more seriously and take ourselves less seriously.
  • do not need to take credits for all that we do.
James 4:6 "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

our past
  • past and present problems - coloured n tainted
  • actions driven by bad experiences - honesty to facing up and deal with them
  • inner insercurities and hurt- bitter envy, self-fish ambitions, negative emotions - corrupts the best in our hearts n actions
  • our past hurts - pushed to the basement and need not deal with them - becomes the subconscious
  • we will fall into this basement whenever we face problems and we will be subconciously tormented by these thoughts (negative or positive).
  • facin to face with the 'skeletons' of our past - hurts n all negativities - at the basement of our life, lies all our past experiences - affects our actions/ rationality
  • start from our devotion and revisitin/search/check our motivations - uprooting the skeletons/ past traumas - able to walk free from negativity
  • we then can recall memories without pain - ask God to heal our inner being - revelations
Mathew 6:33-34
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
